Spooky Stories: Fiction Podcasts to Enjoy this Halloween

Lately I’ve been taking a break from TV and movies and listening to podcasts instead. I like the flexibility  - I can enjoy them while I’m doing housework or exercising, in my car or tucked into bed.

Whether you’re handing out candy, accompanying little ones trick-or-treating, attending a shindig, or enjoying a quiet night in tonight, here are four podcasts featuring spooky stories to help you get in the Halloween spirit.

Unwell: A Midwestern Gothic Mystery

Lillian Harper moves to the small town of Mt. Absalom, Ohio, to care for her estranged mother Dorothy after an injury. Living in the town's boarding house which has been run by her family for generations, she discovers conspiracies, ghosts, and a new family in the house's strange assortment of residents. Winner of the Best Podcast award at the 2021 BBC Audio Drama Awards.

Wrong Station

Wrong Station is a Canadian horror anthology series that takes inspiration from classic 1940s radio horror broadcasts to tell haunting fictional stories set in the modern day.

Nightlight

Nightlight features creepy stories written by Black authors and performed by Black actors. Also includes author interviews if you want to learn more about the talent behind the stories.

The Horror! on Relic Radio

Vintage horror radio shows, mostly from the ‘40s. Most are kid-friendly - the description will indicate which ones are not.

Happy Halloween!

Take care of yourself,
