Sometimes Self Care is No Fun
Sometimes, self care involves doing scary things.
That was the case for me this week, when I had to go in for some medical tests that had me in a cold sweat for weeks. Scarier still, because of COVID, I had to do it alone. But I had already postponed them once out of fear, and really needed to get to the bottom of some concerning symptoms.
So I did it, and it was NOT fun, but it also wasn't as frightening as I thought it was going to be (shoutout to the lovely nurses who talked me through it), and I'm glad to have the insight the tests will provide.
Is there something you're scared of that needs to happen to improve your wellbeing? Are you due for an unpleasant screening test, or is there an awkward conversation that needs to be had?
This week, take the first step in doing that thing that needs to be done. Schedule the test, set up a time to talk, put things in motion. In the end, you'll be glad you did.
P.S. Don't forget to plan a treat for yourself after you do the thing you're dreading. For me, it was a giant Veggie Fries from New York Fries. What are you going to reward yourself with? Let me know in the comments below!
